Question Does anyone use DVD Studio Pro?

Hello all ~

I read that one was supposed to be able to make projects for both Blu-Ray & HD-DVD discs with DVD Studio Pro 4. However, I don't see anything in the program that refers to Blu-Ray (no special settings, etc.). Does anyone know what I'm missing here?

In case this makes a difference: I don't have a Blu-Ray burner (my company would like to create the project in DVD Studio Pro and then send it to a burning facility to have the discs made). Regrettably, I also don't have a Blu-Ray player to test any HD-DVD discs I make to see if they would still work (since I'd be encoding everything in H.264).

Any information or links would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Stephanie

HD-DVD discs do not work on Blu-Ray players. You can only play Blu-Ray Discs on Blu-Ray players.

Stephanie

currently DVD Studio Pro 4 only supports Type 1 HD DVD discs. Blu-ray support is hopefully being added in the next version which is likely coming in April 2007. Right now you'd have to author to a hard drive and playback from there.

Okay. Thanks, Dave. I will keep that in mind.

Still, does anyone have any information on making a Blu-Ray project in DVD Studio Pro 4?

To reinterate: I don't need to burn the disc; I just need to make the project; everything will be compressed with H.264 (unless you suggest otherwise).

Many thanks,
Stephanie

H ~

Thank you very much for your reply. My company does plan to transfer the project via a drive to the burning facility.

So I am clear: DVD Studio Pro does not yet support making a Blu-Ray project at all or it simply does not yet support burning a Blu-Ray disc? If it just does not support burning, would the setup be exactly the same as making an Type 1 HD-DVD?

Sorry to be so inexperienced. I have had a difficult time finding information on this subject. ~ Stephanie

No Blu-ray support whatsoever right now. I'm %85 sure they'll have it in DVD SP 5.
