Default Aspect ratio

I don't stream any movies...100% bluray disk for me but was wondering when you stream or watch a movie from say Netflix or whatever...do you get the same wide aspect ratio with the black bars across the top and bottom of the screen like you get on a bluray disk or do they crop it to fit and fill the screen?

For the most part yes. Some older movies are not in the correct AR. 1.78 instead of 2.35.

What Lee A Stewart said. However, different providers can have the same movie not only in a different AR but in an older/newer transfer as well. It also varies on the studio as well because some like MGM tends to provide Roku Channel and Tubi with 1.78 masters (often times opened up for flat widescreen and Super35 shot titles). Others like Warner, Sony, and formerly Miramax occasionally provide places like Vudu and Prime Video with older HDTV masters for titles not currently 4k.

Universal, Paramount, and Lionsgate seem to be the only ones giving out consistent OAR masters just about everywhere. Occasionally Netflix and subscription channels like Cinemax and Starz will have these titles not in OAR.

iTunes/Apple TV almost always have titles in OAR from the same set of studios. The only outliners being several flat widescreen Disney/Touchstone/Fox from the 1970s-2000s opened up to 1.78 than being 1.85 like elsewhere.
