Default Blind Buy, which is better?

I'm trying to decide on Amazon which would be the better blind buy as my 3rd movie in the B2G1. I'm deciding between Blood Diamond and The Fountain.

I've heard Fountain is one of those love em or hate em, but would it be kind of like Donnie Darko (which I loved) in that it doesn't quite resolve everything and is a kind of thought provoking movie that the American public as a whole seem to hate. I don't really have a certain taste in movies, tend more toward comedies, thought provokers, or just interesting story lines.

Blood Diamond was my favorite movie of 2006. Nice to see you liked DD! My favorite movie of all time!

Can't lose either way. Fountain does require some thinking though

The Fountain. Even if you don't like the movie, you'll enjoy the PQ.

Have not seen Blood Diamond, but The Fountain, as stated, has awesome PQ and a "What the heck just happened here?" ending.

I thought that Blood Diamond was too preachy about its message of, well, blood diamonds, especially the line about how people in Africa die for rocks while the whole world is concerned about blow jobs (since it takes place during the Clinton Impeachment trial).

I, too, am a Donnie Darko fan. The Fountain is indeed a movie many mainstream movie-goers would not like, but I am a big fan of it. Hugh Jackman is great, and the PQ is good, especially when he walks into the Queen's chambers in ancient Spain. The candles hanging from the ceiling created the most realistic 3D effect w/out 120Hz. The movie was a very good piece on a character's love for another. Also, Aronofsky directed it, and he also did Pi and Requiem for a Dream.

I haven't seen the Fountain, but I have seen Blood Diamond, and it is a very good movie that is worth purchasing. I would put my money on that one...

Go with 'The Fountain'. As previously posted, the movie is worth it for the outstanding visuals alone. You won't be disapointed.

Blood Diamond is an excellent movie. 9/10 in my book. Haven't seen The Fountain but I hear it's an instant classic for fans of director Aron Daronofsky (or however you spell it). I'd say you're better off with Blood Diamond though on a blind buy.

'The Fountain' is definitely an acquired taste. It's is extremely artistic and beautiful. BUT, a lot of people just don't get it. I've seen it 4 or 5 times now and still feel the same way as...

'Blood Diamond' doesn't look as good, but is more entertaining.

As much as I love movies that make me think...I found The Fountain to be too...deliberately abstract. Well acted though!

If you like those fantasy/imagination tragedies like Finding Neverland and Bridge to Terabithia then you'll like The Fountain.

Otherwise, go with Blood Diamond.
