Default Is it worth upgrading to an SSD?

I've seen some videos where it does show that SSD is faster than an HDD (not that surprising), but can someone here give their opinion from personal experience with it?

My PS4 Slim has a 1TB HDD (it came with it) and I'd like to expand it to at least 2TB, so I'm thinking of buying a 2TB SSD for it. I have bought several games via the PlayStation Store when they're on discount and like to have them installed ready to play them.

Until PS5 Pro is released, I'm happy with my PS4 Slim.

Thanks.

Update: Ordered a 2TB SSD, so my PS4's 1TB HDD will be my PS3's new 1TB HDD (1.5TB being reportedly the max).

In my experience, load times were noticeably faster and more consistent. Asset load in was smoother and less obvious when traversing maps in games that were known for the issue. I installed my drive internally for the best results. Bonus: I kept the SSD when I got my PS5 and used it as an external for PS4 game installs to save space on the PS5’s internal.

There’s a limit to how much faster things will be from the game/system side despite the potentially much faster SSD speeds, but it is definitely a noticeable upgrade playing PS4 games from an SSD than a standard HDD. The loading times on something like Horizon Zero Dawn are significantly improved in my experience.

And as mentioned above, when you get a PS5/Pro you can slap the 2TB SSD into an enclosure and use it for all your PS4 games as an external to maximize space on the PS5 internal SSD. It can also be used to store PS5 games (but not play). Moving them back and forth is relatively quick.
