Arrow also has a trilogy pack, but it’s not a steelbook and Desperado is the only one in 4K. Hopefully they’ll do 4k restorations on El Mariachi and Once Upon a Time in Mexico and release them in a steelbook also. I’m definitely going to have to add this to my collection either way.

Desperado is probably the only film in the trilogy that would really benefit from 4K. Once Upon… was shot in 1080p and El Mariachi is a low budget movie edited on two VCRs.

Any word if the two films that aren't on UHD will be new masters?

They will probably be the same materials as the Sony discs with different Arrow encodes, or the same Sony discs with new disc art.

Totally skipped my mind that Once Upon a Time was shot digitally when I posted. Was El Mariachi really edited on VHS? I watched a bunch of behind the scenes stuff on RR and how he got started, and I know it was done on the cheap, but I didn’t realize it was that cheap. It’s been a while since I watched these and I thought at the time the Blu Ray was a step up from the DVD. I’ll have to revisit it. Either way I hope they all get steelbooks.

I'd love for El Mariachi to get upconverted. This may be controversial, but Once Upon A Time is take it or leave it for me. Compared to the other two it really felt like a bit of a let down, especially as a wrap up to the trilogy.

It's so odd that Arrow has the trilogy pack, but didn't go all out with it. They did that with some other releases, and it was mind boggling.

Got my order from B&N today. Had canceled my Deep Discount order because it said backordered. Plus B&N has the Arrow sale.
