Default Bewitched: Seasons 1&2 - 8 January 2025 - Imprint Television #15

Bewitched: Seasons One and Two Blu-ray

Bewitched: Seasons One and Two Blu-ray Amazon US import link

Quote:
United by love, Darrin and Samantha Stephens may look like a classic American couple, but they have a secret that distinguishes them from their suburban neighbours – ad executive Darrin is a mortal, but Samantha is a beautiful witch. While Samantha is mostly content with living life as a mortal, her mother, Endora, cannot imagine what she sees in Darrin. Although Samantha does her best to avoid using her magical powers, sometimes she just can’t resist.

Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, and Agnes Moorehead star in the much-loved 1960s classic fantasy sitcom – and now Imprint Television brings Seasons 1 & 2 to Blu-ray for the very first time in this 15-disc collection. All 74 Season 1 & 2 episodes are presented in 1080p high-definition and LPCM 2.0 Mono sound, in the originally produced black and white picture format.

Added bonuses include colourised versions of each Season 1 & 2 episode (in standard-definition) plus NEW special features including audio commentaries and a documentary on the series.

15-DISC BLU-RAY SET + 172-page hardcover booklet in Limited Edition Hardbox packaging.

Special Features and Technical Specs:

- 1080p high-definition presentation of all 74 episodes from Seasons 1 & 2, restored by Sony Television from the original elements with LPCM 2.0 Mono audio in original 1.33:1 aspect ratio and optional English HOH subtitles (on HD versions only)
- Limited Edition Hardbox packaging with original opening titles animation art
- 172-page booklet featuring original Story Information for every episode
- Option to view episodes in original black and white high-definition, or colourised standard-definition
- NEW! Three Audio Commentaries by Bewitched historian Herbie J. Pilato, Chris York (son of actor Dick York), and film & television historian Rob Ray on the pilot episode I, Darrin, Take This Witch, Samantha, Mother, Meet What’s-His-Name and A is for Aardvark
- NEW! Two Audio Commentaries by Bewitched historian Herbie J. Pilato, actor David Mandel (Adam Stephens) and film & television historian Rob Ray on Aunt Clara’s Old Flame and And Then There Were Three
- NEW! Behind the Magic – Documentary about the making of the series featuring actor David Mandel (Adam Stephens), Steve Olim (Columbia Make-Up Department), Bewitched historian Herbie J Pilato, film & television historian Rob Ray, Bewitched guest star Eric Scott, and Chris York, son of Dick York.

I'd really like to grab this set, but will have to consider if the cost is worth it. I assume the quality will be better than the upcoming US complete series set from Mill Creek (that set is 22 discs for the whole series, whereas Imprint's is 15 just for the first two seasons), so that may be worth paying a premium for!

I'll be buying this and IDoJ. I have the Millcreek set of Jeannie and its pure garbage. So glad Imprint has come to rescue both series!

I emailed Atomic Movie Store here in the US and the owner promptly replied they will be carrying this and IDoJ Imprint sets. Seems as if the pre-orders should be up sometime next week and they will notify me at that time.

I have to say I was so excited to see this that I ordered the bundle immediately and then saw that it's only the first two seasons. Weird. Is there a word on the rest of the seasons? Shirley they will come but I wonder why the split...

Damn, I was hoping vol. 2 would be seasons 3-5 and I could save some money by skipping the Sargent seasons.

Sargent was absolutely the weaker Darrin and the show lost a major element with the chemistry York & Montgomery had together that Sargent & Montgomery sorely lacked… he also performed Darrin slightly different, making him a bit more… gruff and irritated, which is pretty core to the character but York always played these emotions/reactions with a sense of warmth or with a “twinkle” in his eye. Sargent just comes across as much colder, and he generally doesn’t have quite the same comedic gifts that York had.

With that said, I can’t imagine not owning the Sargent seasons because there’s still SO much great stuff in them with many of the other recurring characters on the show.

Isn't it said that the release date will be postponed to February? Was it released as originally planned in January?

That is what was said, but for two of us it shipped somehow anyways. And like USPS is in possession of it, too—they didn't just create the label, as I suspected at first.
