I wonder if they’ll offer some sort of trilogy set when it comes out.

Seeing this on Friday and I can’t wait. The first one was good and the second one was really good.

We don’t go to the theaters often, mainly due to my wife not caring to go.

My wife is even excited to see this in the theater though! Looking forward to it myself. They have done a good job with this series so far.

Same. The last times we took the kids to the movies were for Super Mario and Sonic 2. We'll be going to see this one, too.

Yes, we saw those, Garfield (without wife), Wicked (without wife), and Moana 2.

We enjoyed all of these, but I wasn’t crazy about Garfield. Daughter liked it though ha.

Sonic 2's steelbook will be hard to top; I hope they do a good one.

Upon first viewing, this movie didn't really grab me. The jury is out as to whether I'll get this one with 1 & 2.

What I think I'll do is wait till Sonic 4 comes out, see if I like it and connects heavily enough with 3, and then I'll be a completist and get it when it's on sale. I also may rewatch this at some point and change my thoughts on it entirely.

In no way am I saying the movie is bad. I'm just replaying it in my head and asking myself if I can justify replay value over the parts that really slogged for me.

Pretty nice they're giving us a unique design for home video instead of reusing theatrical key art. It's been a while since we've seen that.

I believe it's one of the theatrical posters being used:

That is the Theatrical Poster. Much better than the usual Photoslop these companies have been giving us. Although the Sonic Movies just used the posters. I really wanna know what poster they'll use for the Steelbook, as I have the steels for the first two, and I wanna be consistent.

The only complaint is that Paramount is suddenly putting the Blu ray with the 4Ks again, and it makes Sonic 2 stand out in that regard when it comes to the standards. And that bugs me. Then again the banner on top also changed compared to Paramount's previous releases so that's inconsistent as well. Oh well.

IDK why Paramount is taking a break from Blu-rays, maybe it's because their home entertainment division is in trouble. Maybe next year we could get a Sonic trilogy Blu-ray set when Paramount's home entertainment business gets back to normal, and Paramount can re-release their newer films that were 4K UHD and Blu-ray combo packs to 4K and Blu-ray only releases.

It says "out of stock" on the Walmart page.

Was the steelbook ever available for pre-order or has it just not gone live yet?

I think it was actually in stock this morning. It’s up at Target for about $1 cheaper. I prefer Target anyways.

The steelbook and regular UHD have the same cover, or are those just placeholders?

I hope HDR settings are good for the movie, I am worried the HDR will make Shadow hard to see on the TV screen since HDR darkens the movie on the TV screens

If your TV has good shadow detail (literally no pun intended, that's just what it's called) and you are well calibrated, then you should see good separation of those black levels in play. Those white levels, too. If you are crushing blacks given your TV and settings, then maybe not as much.
