NOOOOOOOO! I was so excited when I saw the headline that Darling Buds was finally getting an HD release on Blu-ray. As one of my favourite television series of all time, this has been top of my most wanted list for over 15 years. Having been shot on film (16mm/Super 16), it would look brilliant on Blu-ray!

And then I read the details: cropped to 16:9 from the original 4:3 aspect ratio. They butchered it. So, definitely a NO BUY for me. Someone please release this on Blu-ray in 4:3 HD 25p as it should be presented. Please. Pretty please?!

Having got a copy of this blu-ray it looks like the same HD transfer as ITVX used/uses (I don't know if they still have it)

1 of the episodes, Xmas special, I think is a really poor copy made even worse by the 4:3 to 16:9 transfer so I suspect there was no HD for that episode - also the reason ITV3 skipped the repeat.
