Default Weinstein Company.

So where does this leave them? Are they Blu? Or do we have wait on a statement from them? I was shocked to see Harsh Times was on HD-DVD and would reallllly love to see it on Blu.

I didnt know if they were like in an umbrella to Universal or Paramount?

EDIT: Meh, this may belong in General, move if so.

Last I heard they have been having serious money issues. Since the new formats cost more to produce they may have no choice to pass for now.

Yeah I remember seeing something about this on an Insiders thread. Appearently they don't have the money required to do so and they wanted "help" in releasing them. So this could mean unless they get the money they won't release on Blu. At this point it is possible for a major to pick them up as well but that is anyone's guess.

Weinstein, just come on and join the Blu side so you can release Planet Terror, Death Proof, Lucky Number Slevin, and all the others so you can stop leaving all of us in suspense!

Weinstein was originally an HD DVD exclusive studio. They released some titles on HD DVD, but sold poorly. It has been months since Weinstein last released anything in HD DVD. From prior comments by Blu-ray insiders, the studio is having financial difficulties. Hopefully, we will see some releases from them very soon. I was hoping that The Mist would be released in Blu-ray day and date with the DVD version, but that is obviously not going to happen.

They must, because they haven't released a HD-DVD since last summer.

If they would only release Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair and the Grindhouse Double Feature (both movies with all of the trailers on one disc) they would make a nice little profit for themselves, because these would sell pretty well.

it seems that a lot of people mistakenly took kill bill as Weinstein. No, it's miramax. due to be released in UK in a month time if you want to import

Disney owns the current version. They own every Mirimax release 2005 and earlier. The Weinstein Company owns every Mirimax movie after 2005.

"The Whole Bloody Affair," a promised special edition with 40 minutes of extra scenes, would fall under the Weinstein umbrella.

Weinstein has been so absent from the HD industry lately.. who knows.
They are just going to release to whatever is out. But they haven't releasd to HD DVD in so long it sounds to me like they were tired of the format war a long time ago. Maybe now they will finally get back into it.

Kill Bill 1 and 2 is Miramax.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is Weinstein.

Grrr - I want the Grindhouse collection sooooo badly, but my new years resolution was to never support the SD DVD market with a penny ever again - I'm starting to go nutjob over here.

for planet terror : the movie looks "old" with many effects that look like old and decrepit film most of the time, will the result be good on BD? after all it's the director's choice to look that way to mimic an old grindhouse movie ...
