Hey everyone, I have a sony BDP-s300 and a Samsung LCD 46 inch TV. The bluray player plays bluray movies great, but in certain scenes on some of the movies, there is a slight flicker in the picture. Has anyone else received this problem with this player? And should getting the latest firmware help fix the problem? Thanks for any responses.

Updating to the latest firmware is usually a good start. I tried searching for it (click the search link and search for flicker) but most seem to be talking about an issue with a Samsung TV and Panasonic blu-ray player. I only checked the first few links though.
Some suggestions I saw were trying to turn off 24fps in the blu-ray player if you have an option for that or trying to set the resolution manually instead of having it at auto or something like that. Below are a few threads that mention flicker. Didn't have time to check more of them. Hopefully someone else will be a little more helpful, sorry. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ker#post584803 https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...hlight=flicker https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ker#post537135 At least I've bumped your thread back to the top. ![]() |

I think it's more likely a problem with the TV because I see the same thing with my 46" Samsung and the PS3. So add that to your experience and the common feature seems to be Samsung TVs.
I suspect that although it handles a 24fps input and displays 24hz on the screen, it's actually not rendering it properly, I saw it suggested that it is internally adding pulldown to 60hz for display. I'm actually increasingly unhappy with the fact that mine has this problem, but Samsung don't make it easy to contact them, and there is no firmware update for the TV available on their website. I should phone them some time, but I'm sure they'll just tell me there isn't a known problem with the TV and hence no firmware update is planned. |

I've noticed the same thing on my PS3. I have a Sony 60A3000 and I was playing FF4:Rise of the Silver Surfer. At the beginning of the movie, when SS was flying passed the moon, the picture seemed to flicker. I noticed that the picture seems to flicker when there is motion onscreen.
