John Woo on Blu - Blu-ray Forum

Hey, does anyone know any plans for some of John Woo's HK films coming to blu-ray here in the States? Specifically, 'The Killer', 'Bullet in the Head' and 'Hard-Boiled'?

I believe, you can get Hard Boiled with the PS3 game Stranglehold.

That is true. Hard Boiled comes only with the collector's edition of Strangehold, but the film isn't in good condition (and it shows).

Thanks, Snad - but from I have read the Hard-Boiled that comes with the PS3 game is not in HD. I already have the Criterion Collection edition, but am dying for it in HD. I know I'm new to this forum, but it's too bad there are condescending trolls like 'Blu n Gold' who post snotty responses just to be a jerk. Well, at least he's a miserable pill who has blu-ray....

I know they are distributed through Genius in the U.S. as apart of their "Dragon Dynasty" line, and Genius recently hinted at putting out Blu-ray but there wasn't a timeframe or titles announced.

You guys have never seen Bullet in the Head? Woo made it after The Killer (it got him the funding) and before his HK Once a Thief (he remade it for FOX after he came to USA) - amazing and brutal - and was a financial failure in HK. I saw it projected in Rheinbeck, NY back when i was at Bard College, and went thru tape and laser disc versions and finally DVD.

John Woo is da man.

Hard Boiled would be sweet I agree and the version that comes with Strangle Hold is in HD it might only be 1080i though i'm not sure.

I have the Stranglehold Collectors and Hard Boiled isn't as bad as some Blu's I've seen. It's definitely not a high quality upgrade from DVD, but it is noticably better. I've seen deals recently where you can get the Collectors edition for $39.99, so if you have a PS3 and are remotely interested in playing the game, that's not a bad deal at all.

I definitely want 2 specific John Woo movies on BD.

A Better Tomorrow (1986)
The Killer (1989)

I expect them to call up DTS Digital Images and get full Lowry Restorations going on for both of these films.

The Hard Boiled on the PS3 could probably be cleaned up a whole lot more. This is the best crazy shooter action movie to watch with friends. People just don't make action movies like this anymore.

A Bullet In The Head is a must buy if it ever comes out on BD.I had this movie on VHS that I bought at a comic book convention.My toshiba VHS player ate that tape up and ever since I have been trying to find a good copy in Dvd and I just can get one.
Also A Better Tomorrow and God Of Gamblers....are a must
