Hi guys,
Looking for a 1080p projector. Firstly my room is tiny so ill be underneath the projector when im watching a film, so it needs to make hardly any noise if any. Im on a small budget so what would the best Cheap Quite projector be? (remember im from the UK so everythings double the price over here) Ive never really looked into projectors so any help would be appreciated ![]() Last edited by david2189; 03-08-2008 at 05:33 PM. |

seems like anything with a 2x zoom for you (like me) i use it at 10 feet (9.6feet from the lens).
Sanyo Z2000 (2299$) Epson 1080ub (2899$) Panasonic AE2000 (2599$) all of those have 2x zoom witch give you have 92inch from 10 feet (lens) |

Can you post your room dimensions? The length of you room? How big a screen your room can support (ie the dimensions of the wall your screen will hang on)? Can you ceiling mount? Do you have ambient light? All of these are major factors that will help determine the best projector for your needs.

You will want something that has a decent amount of zoom for sure. I have a very small HT room and only have space for a single row of seats. I first tried using an Optoma HD80 but because of it's weak zoom I couldn't get a projected image greater than 70" at the dstance I had to work with. I took the Optoma back and got a Sony Pearl which allowed me to have a 100" screen at the same throw distance.
Another option that can be helpful in dealing with a small room is to cut a hole in the wall and mount the pj in an adjacent room. Then you project thru the hole and this gives you more throw distance to work with. It also has the advantages of keeping the projector noise and the extra heat out of your HT. That was my origimal plan with the Optoma, but when I went to do the installation, I found a main support beam for the house running right where I needed my opening to be. I had to scrap that plan and go with a pj that had more zoom. |
