Default Surround Sound Noobie

i bought myself a cheap HD TV a while back,.. as it was only for my bedroom.

however, recently i have noticed that sounds sound is off, and sometimes sounds quite tinny.

i found this surround sound system; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HTS3...5589266&sr=8-3

it says it connects via SCART, which is fine.

however;

if i connect this surround sound to my TV,... can i play my PS3, Standard cable TV, and my Upscaling DVD player via these speakers? .. as i never want to use the horrible TV speakers again.

so my PS3 for example;

PS3 --> HDMI --> TV --> SCART --> Surround Sound Speakers

... or whould this only work when playing DVDs on the free player you get with it?
