Connecting PS3 with HDMI.... - Blu-ray Forum

Hi all. I have a ps3 connected to the TV via component cables and the TV connected to my reciever via red and white audio cables. My question is, if I were to get a hdmi cable to connect the ps3 to the TV, will I get 7.1 sound with the TV connected to the reciever via the red and white audio cables?

No you will not. You need optical to get 7.1 sound lossy or HDMI to get 7.1 sound lossless.

Ok thank you very much. Now I guess I need a good reciever. Are Denon recievers worth their price?

Denon's receivers are excellent, but the Pioneer Elite suit my price point a little better.
