PCM DTS-MA with PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

I am using a ps3 and onkyo 605 so if im correct im only sending the core track to the receicer.

What exactly am i missing out on with the ps3 not being able to decode / bitstream it? Will there be much difference when it can?

DTS MA is alot better than the core track. But don't worry, it is pretty much confirmed that thePS3 will get it soon

yeah im pretty excitted to hear it..keeping my fingers crossed for next update!

do you get all the sound with the core track just not as good quality?

is that why its better?

The PS3 is doing the sound decoding internally and sending out as PCM. By not being able to bitstream, your receiver really doesn't "touch" to signal for processing.

Debate on Receiver vs. player decoding for more info.

I would say it has a fuller more clear and detailed sound
