Default PS3 Networking question

I have a 20G PS3 and a wireless network in my house. My router is in the living room and I usually play online in the living room, but I have a setup in my room too. I am wondering if I can somehow get my PS3 online through my computer which is wireless online. Is there a way for me to be online in my room? I was thinking I could connect to the back of the PC and be on a shared network. Any help would be appreciated.

Before I sold my PS3, every computer in my house including my PS3 had wireless connectivity. Sorry to tell you this but the 20 GB PS3 does not have wireless capabilities. In order for your PS3 to have internet connection, you have to install an ethernet cable (the one that looks like a phone jack) into the back of your PS3. Last, you have to jot down all the detailed internet connection info into your PS3. After that, follow directions

Basically I am trying to get my PS3 online through my computer or a router. The PS3 will be wired to the router or the computer to make it have online capabilities. PS3>Comp>online or PS3>router>Comp>online

Your 20GB PS3 will only have access online if you have an ethernet cable running directly between it and the router. The router then has to be connected to the modem and then to the phone jack. And no, you cannot connect your PS3 to the internet through your computer. It can only be done through the router.

The only problem that I possibly forsee in your situation is the scenario that your router only has one ethernet jack on it. If that's the case, only your computer OR PS3 can be connected to the internet at one time, not both. If you have two ethernet ports on your router though, it's all good. Just run the cables. Of course, if your router is wireless, then you can use a wireless adaptor (purchase at any electronic store) to connect the computer and just run the ethernet cable to the PS3. Both will then be online.

Is it possible to use a crossover cable and in network properties enable other computers to share the internet connection via the computer?

buy (or better yet - make) a Crossover Cable. just plug that into your ps3 and your good to go. (you might have to change some settings, but thats fine. Theres directions all over the internet for you. just google it)

It even works with linux.

you can get a crossover cable for about 10 bucks... it looks just like an ethernet cable.
