Default Why was HD-DUD dubbed the "red" format?

I can understand why Blu-ray is dubbed "blu" and it makes sense to use blue keep case, but why was HD-DUD dubbed "red"? It uses the same blue-violet laser as Blu-ray. Does anybody know?

I apologize if this was discussed before; I did a search and didn't find any relevant info.

Thanks.
