Default Saw this while prebooking for June...pretty funny

I'm prebooking for sell thru for stores and I saw this:

Release Date - 7/1/2008
Batman: The Movie (DVD) - Cost - $5.35 ($9.99 SRP)
Batman: The Movie (Blu-ray) - Cost - $26.77 ($39.99 SRP)

Could Fox be anymore delusional? I know this movie released in 1966.....but what were they thinking with that price point difference? Is the Blu-ray disc gold plated or something?

Examples like this, is why I personally know a LOT of movie buffs who won't make the switch to Blu Ray...yet. A $20 premium is simply not worth it, when they could buy 4 additional films for the price of that 1 blu ray.

I bought the original batman film from the 60's from the walmart bin for $5 a year or so ago. I'll never own it on Blu unless I buy it for the same price, and can't find anything else to get instead.

What I find hilarious is re-releasing the DVD at $9.99 but putting the Blu-ray version 4 times the price.........

I just ignore all of Fox's older titles (with the exception of something like Independence day) because they have priced themselves out of the Blu-ray market (which is funny in itself because the Blu-ray software is so expensive....to be the worst is truely something to be ashamed of)

Yeah, Fox should drop the MSRPs of catalog titles by $10 or so.

I think this is just Fox's logic thinking that blu-ray is a niche and those that want it will pay the premium. A sd-dvd pricing always reflects on what its worth. Its as almost they are punishing people for wanting high def. I could never understand why some cable providers charged extra for high def box vs standard box.

I order for mutiple rental locations but I don't own them (lets just say it's a big franchise). The Blu-ray rental section in a lot of stores I order for is 200+ titles. Fox has got to be in a race to get the biggest margins possible on every release.....it's the only way to explain their pricing.
