I own heaps and heaps and heaps of DVDs, some because I enjoyed them, some because I loved them to bits, and some both all of the above and because they have a great DVD cover. Since quite a few Blu-ray covers annoy me - the huge "Maximum High-Def" logo on the front, the back cover being plastered with "high definition" "high definition" "blu-ray!" "high definition!" logos and almost the only thing on the entire back cover that's relevant to the movie is the plot text - If I have both a DVD and a BD of a movie, why not just swap the discs round and use the DVD box as the main storage facility? I mean, I've always preferred the look of the DVD boxes, and I bought the Texas Chain Saw Massacre DVD twice just because the second one had a steel cover.
Anyone else considered this? No thread crapping. |

I completely understand where you're coming from. I too am very fond of the DVD amrays, but at the same time I prefer the Blu-Ray case simply for it being Thinner and Smaller thus creating the ability to put more of them in my storage space. In due time, all the "HIGH DEFINITION!!!!" things on the packages will disappear. DVD cases used to be so ugly to me.

I love my Blu-ray cases EXACTLY the way they are. While stored on the shelf, there is no need to worry about all of the "labels" plastered on the cover art. If all of my Blu-rays were displayed with the cover facing out, it might be a different story. As is, 184 Blu-rays mixed in with my 600 DVDs in the exact same cases would not only piss me off when trying to remember which are Blu-ray and which aren't, but it would also take away from the fact that when people come over and see my Blu-ray collection they wouldn't comment on it... or even ASK ABOUT THE FORMAT... OR ASK FOR A DEMONSTRATION! Because of those cases I have been able to enlighten SO MANY people about the benefits of Blu-ray. I RESPECT THE BLU-RAY CASE AS IT IS!!!

you should join a cover site and print off some nice custom covers if you dont like the look of some blu covers, thats what i did cuz here in canada alot of covers have both english and french packaging and that above all bugs me to the bone, but if you dont like the blu cases ( i love them) then stick with the original dvd cases,

I prefere the blu ray cases and the dvd covers ( with few exceptions). What can i do?
1. Buy both dvd and BD ( too expensive and no spacefriendly ![]() 2. Buy a BD only and print a custom cover. ![]() 3. Buy a dvd and use a Blu-ray cases ? or wait for final edition on BD with nice cover and all bonuses ( like Blade Runner collector's edition.) ![]() |

Same for me. I love how like Lost - Season 3 for example or Blade Runner are multi disc sets but they still come in a blu plastic case that is the same height and type as the rest of my collection. I couldn't stand how some DVD's would be plastic cases, others cardboard cases, TV show sets being all over the board, etc.

The reason NOT to do what the OP did is simple: If you want to move houses or apartment or if your friends like to borrow your movies, you'd have to supervise the transaction. I'd hate to sell off what you thought is a DVD with a BD inside.

I like the fact that Blu-ray cases are smaller - to me the less storage space needed the better. I don't like the confusion of switching discs around, so much potential to losing or not being able to find a disc.
What I do hate is all of the "Hi-Def" logo'ing across BD covers. The sooner the studios put on a clear uncluttered cover art the better. The back is where you put all of the advertising and features. ._. |
