Default New home theatre on the way for me?

Put a bid in on a new house (not "new" as it was built in 1908, but new to us!!) It's a monster, and it has something for everyone (meaning it has a HUGE granite counter-top filled kitchen with heated floor, Viking stove etc. for the wife) and it has a HUGE finished attic space just waiting for a home-theater!!!!! The basements in this area are WET.... usually just humid, or moist, but structurally sound, so I had to shop around for a suitable layout.....

If our bid gets accepted (I am pretty sure it will) I'll be balls-deep in renovations to get the new theater up and running!!!! Finally moving away from the "Bedroom, Living Room, and Basement" set-ups, to one, BIG dedicated system (going to set up a bedroom still)

The attic space is 20x18, but it branches off ( in an "L" shape) so I'm going to possibly throw a bar up there too...... I'll try to track the progress, but we gotta close the deal first!

No point to the thread... sorry... I'm just pumped like Reebok to do a dedicated theater!

or, the "L" extension can become the equipment room, where you'll house the seven monoblocks.

Craftsman or ?????

Is that "Dee Brown" ?? I don't follow the NBA, but that rings a bell!

Uh... well... A projector is certainly in consideration speakers etc. are all new since Turkey-Day, so I already spent $12K or so, I think quite a few father's day/X-Mas/B-Day/Anniversary/other Halmark Holiday(s) gifts were used up there!!!

Make sure it's a well ventilated attic: PA summers can be hell on you and your gear. Moving your central air up there might not be the worst idea

Pshaw, in for a penny, in for a pound. Seven McIntosh MC2kW = $210,000, but you get 14,000 watts nominal on tap, 56,000 watts peak.

Your popularity with the new neighbors may be problematic, but they won't need to invest in their own systems and you've got a whole-house heater solution.

So when is the house warming party? Meet and greet and test out the new bar!

Hope you enjoy the new house, and the new theater! Just make sure to get the house well inspected so you don't get fun surprises down the road.

Good luck on the bidding! It's a nice time to buy around here but crappy to sell. My wife and I had hundreds to choose from in a short span of time. Maybe you don't want to put it up here, but what part of Cleveland?

Congrads!

I, myself, also just bought a new house. (well, not newly built new, 1985 townhouse).

My first time owning a place and I am just loving my new TV and my HTIB at this moment.

However, my basement is still a clean slate right now (finished basement). I think I will be moving my TV down and move my HTIB to my master BR, and get a real HT set up next year when I recover from the house finance and erratic BD purchasing the past month. (plus PS3 games, controllers, etc) Man, they do add up quickly.

I'm in Lakewood, if you're familiar with the west-side. And if you're familiar with Lakewood, I'm about as "North" as you can get (one low-traffic street between us and the Lake)
