I guess it's what you grew up with. If you saw the original trilogy in the theatre, you probably enjoy the original version. If you saw the original on VHS Or DVD for the first time, you probably like those versions.

yeah i grew up with the orignals on vhs, then got to see the special editions in the theaters then i now own the special speical editions on dvd as well as the originals,
the way i see it is if you want to watch Star wars, watch the originals only, no prequel crap, if you want to watch the saga in order watch the new versions |

The only part that I really notice is the Anakin Skywalker switch at the end of Jedi.
I keep expecting old pasty faced Anakin and I keep getting that nitwit they used in the first 3 movies. Logan |

Well I am not really a huge fan and as of right now I don’t even own the movies because I hate George Lucas. That being said, I will probably buy the original trilogy on Blu Ray if released. As to which is better I have to say the original theatrical versions are better because this was the way they were released. I know Lucas said he intended them to be the way they are now but I don’t buy it. While technology wasn’t even close to what it is today, the added scenes are just not needed and putting Hayden’s body at the end of Jedi makes no sense to me. If he would have gone back and fixed the sound and some effects I don’t think most people would have cared but he butchered them and won’t release the real versions. People remember these movies a certain way and to pretend they don’t exist is just wrong. So my vote goes for the original theatrical versions.

While I liked Star Wars quite a bit when I was growing up, they're not an integral part of my life as they seem to be to some people. I didn't really mind the additions to them. Honestly I'm kind of over Star Wars. I have the original trilogy and prequels on DVD, and I think I've watched each of them the day they came out and haven't checked them out since. I've always been an Indiana Jones guy. When I was a kid I had the fedora and a leather jacket that I would parade around the house in, jumping off of stuff. I had a whip too. Pretty bad ass

I like the original cuts. The enhanced versions do add some nice touches here and there, but I just can't get past the Cantina scene in episode 4 where Han outdodges the speed of light coming from the blaster on other end of the table by the bounty hunter.

I don't remember any changes in Empire Strikes Back except more footage of Cloud City. Whatever else they changed I couldn't tell. Which means its still awesome.
Did he dodge it? I thought when Han shot him it diverted the Hunters shot? |

i love star wars (4-6 originals only) and literally grew up watching them.. i'm not one to dress up like a those geeks seen in "Triumph The Insult Dog's" little dig back in 02.. and have to add is one of the funniest things I have EVER seen.. but to have the original movies destroyed (IMO) as they were in 97 is enough to make me scream. George Lucas has become a person I can't even stand to hear about anymore.. The guy lives for the best quality for his movies but waits for YEARS to release the movies on SD DVD and the releases the sh!tty ass versions.. then gets complaint after complaint and releases the originals from the laser disc version and expects people to spend another 13 bucks a piece for complete crap... He should be giving them out for free for all the sh!t he has put Star Wars fans through.. and I don't even want to talk about the prequels which are some of the worst movies i have ever seen.. next to Meet the Feebles.

Greedo shoots first, and in the DVD (which was tweaked even more than the theatrical release of the special editions) Han kind of slides to the side a bit (the CGI for that is awful, BTW) and blasts Greedo after his shot hits the wall.

Yes. Thats the one. I could only surmise it was the more "PC/Lucas has children" now enhanced scene.

He did it because Han, as a good guy, wouldn't just blow the guy away. Which . . . really . . . yeah he would. Han's not THAT good of a good guy, at least at that point in the series.
