Default Potential PS3 HT System

Hey everyone,

I have browsing these forums for the last couple of days and I'm wondering if I could get some input on this potential setup I'm looking at.

I just got a PS3 (scroll down for specs of the 80GB model) when Metal Gear Solid 4 came out and I have a 50" Samsung DLP 1080p TV(scroll down for specs) and now I'm looking into buying a receiver and surround sound.

I live in an apartment so I don't want anything to big. I'm on a budget so I'm not going really high grade on anything here but this is what I have come up with so far.

Receiver:
Yamaha RX-V663

This receiver might be a little over the top but I might expand in the future once I get out of my apartment.

Speakers:
Klipsch Quintet III

I have heard nothing but good things about these speakers.

Subwoofer:
Klipsch KSW-10

I read in another thread that this would go well with the Quintet III speakers.

One of my biggest questions that I'm not able to answer myself because I'm new to all of this is, will everything be compatible and sound well together?

What do you guys think?
Thanks!

Update:

I am now looking at either the Klipsch Synergy Sub-10 or Klipsch Synergy Sub-12 subwoofer. Klipsch's website said these would match the Quinlet III speakers better.

You need to listen to them yourself to see if they sound good. What type of sound, bright, warm, etc... is very subjective, and preferences vary from person to person.

You might want to consider the Bic Acoustech H100 sub. Very highly rated by many folks both here and at AVS, and it is 12" instead of 10". I've got one, and it sounds fantastic. You should be able to find one for <$250 shipped. Your sub brand really does not have to match your speakers, if that was a concern.

@ Ricshoe: I've been looking at this subwoofer now actually.
Klipsch Synergy Sub-12
I have found this one for cheaper than the 10".

@ Beta Man: I went to Klipsch's website and did their Dealer Locator. The only place it found as a dealer was BestBuy. And BestBuy's store availability thing doesn't work for these speakers. I guess I'll have to call around, definately not going to drive around these days.

Also, I was looking at buying these but now they are already sold.
EBay Klipsch Quinlet III

Thanks for the tips on the sub but I have found this deal at BestBuy. Klipsch/Yamaha Speaker/Receiver/Sub Bundle

I called BestBuy, the guy said they have it in stock and said I should come it to listen to it so I'll probably do that tomorrow. I also asked him if I could upgrade the receiver from the V443 to the V663 and he said that we could probably work something out.

If I end up liking this setup I'll probably get it.

One last question. Does the V663 receiver have all the right video/audio capabilities for hooking it up to a PS3?

yes, the 663 would be perfect with the PS3.

I think you will like any of the choices mentioned. Have fun with it!

Also, since I'm living in an apartment can anyone point me to a thread/link about ways to run speaker wire?

Thanks!

run them along the base boards of the wall. Use rugs or mats to cover where/if needed.

Default Dilemma

Here's my dilemma. The back left surround speaker should probably go where the red circle is. The receiver/TV is off to the right.

RED: I could run a wire up and over the bedroom door(right doorway), it might be kind of hard to hang it across the kitchen doorway(left doorway).

YELLOW: I could try to run the wire under the carpet across the bedroom there and then tuck it into the metal bar across the kitchen and then up to the speaker.

OR BLUE: Run it across the floor, buy a rug to put over the wire...

What do you guys think would be easiest?
I could paint the wire to match the walls.

I'd go up over that door, then down the other side, and across the kitchen threshold, and put a small rug down to cover the threshold.

Oooo, hadn't thought of that one, thanks! I might have to go with that.
What's the best way to attach the wire to the door frame without damaging the paint, etc.

You may damage it a little... but I'd use a staple gun..... but that's just me!
