Great show if anyone missed it's original run last summer!

"Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced AMC's critically acclaimed television show Mad Men: Season One is coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 1, day-and-date with the standard DVD release.

From Matthew Weiner, the Emmy award-winning executive producer and writer of The Sopranos, Mad Men is the ground-breaking, daring series about the glamorous and ego-driven "Golden Age" of advertising, where everyone is selling something and nothing is ever what it seems.

Mad Men has won numerous awards including two Golden Globes for Best Television Series Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series Drama (Jon Hamm), the Directors Guild Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series Night, the Writers Guild Award for New Series, the Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design in Television, the Satellite Award for Best Ensemble, Television and was nominated for two Screen Actor Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Dramatic Series and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama (Hamm).

Lionsgate will package Mad Men on Blu-ray with select episode commentaries, featurettes, and additional supplemental features not yet revealed.

Mad Men: Season One on Blu-ray will span three discs and carry an SRP of $49.99. Check back regularly for high resolution cover art, pre-order information, disc specs, and the remaining supplemental features."

CRAP!!

I'm somewhat interested in seeing this show and the price is somewhat reasonable. I may just have to pick this up. CRAP!!

Hopefully DirecTV will add AMC-HD this Summer in case I like it...

Yes, it's a soap opera. But "Mad Men" is so well-written and executed that I just couldn't miss an episode. I will certainly be adding this to my library. If you haven't seen it, give it a shot. It's as addictive as the nicotine wafting through the boardrooms. Thanks for the head's up Mike.

Excellent Excellent Show. Produced by Matthew Wiener, one of the producers of the SOPRANOS. Sharp Dialogue and a perfect view of society at the time. I highly recommend it.

If people want to see more television on Blu-ray support this release. The studios only respond to sales and this title is a pleasant surprise to be released on Blu-ray.

First off, Mad Men shouldn't be released until next Tuesday (July 1st) so you should go pick it up.

Secondly, I loved the show. It was my favorite new show on TV last year (beating out Pushing Daisies). I thought it had a great story, great acting and a wonderful sense of the early '60's. It was created by Matthew Weiner who joined The Sopranos as a writer in their 4th season. (David Chase hired him after reading the pilot for Mad Men).

yes. It is on the top of every critic's list. Plus, the search function found a thread that was asking the same question yesturday that Josh answered stating that it is a great show.

It is a brilliant show (the writing, acting, sets and cinematography are all fantastic), but it is essentially a 'period piece' and isn't for everyone. Personally, I would definitely check it out, but I'd be hesitant to recommend it to someone as a blind buy without knowing what kind of films/TV shows they enjoy.

Great show, I was waiting for it to out on blu ray since I was forced to watch it in SD on AMC last summer. Rent first though if you haven't seen it because it probably isn't for everyone
