I was wondering if anyone could tell me the cause of the problem that I am having with Guitar Hero III. I start up the game and everything seems fine. Once it gets to the point where it says “reading HDD” or something like that (to load your save file to start the game) it completely freezes up and I can’t use the PS button or anything to attempt to restart the game. I always have to do a Hard Reset by flipping the switch in the back of my system.
This happens on no other game that I own, but I have been constantly trying to start up GHIII for the past couple of weeks and I am unable to play. I am going through serious Rock withdrawls… Any help would be appreciated. I have tried everything to get this thing running, but to no avail. I have tried copying the save file to a Memory stick, deleting it then reinstalling it, amongst other things but nothing seems to work… |

I would definitely call Activision. If other games are working, then there's something wrong with your installation of Guitar Hero III.

hmmnnn interesting. how long did you wait for it to "unfreeze"? Also, i would possibly try disconnecting it from the internet and try also. I was playign GH Aerosmith last night and when i went online it froze on me. i waiting like 10 min. and it unfroze itself.... I understand your pain, you definately need to ROCK!

Perhaps your save file is corrupted. Contact activision.
Alternatively, back up your save file to USB. Try erasing it and starting a fresh one to see if that fixes it. Would help you to at least narrow down the problem. |

![]() Just because every song isn't a meat grinder for your fingers on guitar doesn't mean there isn't challenge to be had aplenty in Rock Band. --- That said we're wandering far afield. Sounds like either the disc is damaged/dirty or there's something corrupt about the save file. |

The problem with GH's "Guitar Experience" is that it's no guitar experience at all. It's random button mashing. Last edited by EvanX; 07-11-2008 at 08:26 PM. |

Ok. I think I know what may have happened. I recently was messing around on one of my old accounts and accidently downloaded the Coldplay Add-On Track Pack from the Playstation Store. Then, without realizing that I downloaded it under that account, I deleted it since I never really used it that much. I notice that when you delete an account, it says that it will erase all data and game utility data. Maybe once I deleted this account, it deleted my Coldtray Add-On Pack and it somehow froze my game?
I only say this because, I backed up my save data onto my memeory stick and then I deleted BOTH my Game Data Utility and my Save Game Utility. Once I started up Guitar Hero again, I had to download the update for that game (version 1.01). Once I booted it up, I reinstalled my Save Game Data and it worked. The problem is, is that all of the add on packs that I had downloaded (4 total) were gone, so I had to reinstall them from the Playstation Store (but didn't have to rebuy them ![]() After that, I made another profile to bring up my old account (but this time i didn't delete it) and the game performed fine. Then, I got the bright idea of deleting my account to see if it wouldn't freeze up, but it did... ![]() So now, I am just never going to bring up that old account ever again, and I am just going to re-buy (6 dollars or so) it under my normal playstation account. Does any of this make sense? IMO, it is stupid as hell that if I download an add-on but then delete the account that I downloaded it under that it would freeze up the game. How stupid. ![]() |
