has there been any word as to when sony will release a new es player. I want to replace my ps3 with a standalone but i dont want to get anything that isnt better than the ps3

A new ES model based on the upcoming S550 is widely expected... but no official release has been announced. I wouldn't expect it before October at the earliest.
