Thumbs up Christian Bale talks Terminator Salvation

Source.

What attracted you to another big franchise like "Terminator?"
Christian Bale:
Well, initially, actually, that was NOT an attraction. I felt that I wasn't sure where it could go to. Before I gave an answer, I went back and reviewed the other movies. I felt like "Okay, unlike 'Batman Begins,' this would be something where we would be respecting the previous mythology." Certainly of one and two, not so much number three – but certainly you would be recognizing that mythology, unlike "Batman Begins" where we were saying that this is the beginning, right here. But what I view in it, and what has ultimately made me make the choice to make it, is that I see the same potential for reinvention and for breathing new life into the mythology. That's what I view our responsibility as filmmakers to be. It's pointless if we don't succeed in doing that.

How is filming going?
Bale:
Good, good. They're a number of weeks in. I'm just a week and a half in... It's going well. It's a tall order, it really is, and I recognize that and we have a lot of work to do, and I've just begun on it, because I only just finished working on "Public Enemies" a couple of weeks back.

I like Bale, but I really wish James Cameron would help out with these movies. As much as I would like to see more terminator movies, without him I am compelled to ignore them. I couldn't accept T3.

excited for both his movies Public Enemies and T4 and the 3rd one Killing Pablo also, *ing Javier Bardem

I kinda hoped this came out in 2010 that way it would've been 1 terminator movie for every decade

Be advised they are planning this to be a triolgy as well.

I am afraid for these films, they are also planned to be PG-13 to bring in the toy line and the kids.

TRILOGY??? WTF if they followed the Terminator story correctly then this one should be the last. For all purposes it should end with Connor sending Reese back in time which would bring it to full circle.

Whoever planned this as a trilogy is insane.

That's just it ("It" as in, why these still get made)--
Cameron doesn't own the Terminator. Gale Hurd does--Along with whatever last bankrupt traces of Carolco Pictures were cobbled together to try and get C2 Pictures going, before being sold off to "T4 Acquisition Company" to make the TV series.
...IOW, it's the "Halloween 6: the Curse of Michael Myers" of sci-fi movies.

(And to think the Terminator went bankrupt because back in '97, we had better things to do than go see some stupid big-budget pirate movie... )

Are you serious? If that's so, it's not a very flattering picture of a 7 Eleven.

I wish I were joking. They've done this sort of thing before. Remember the scene in T2 where the Dunkin Donuts coffee cup rolls right in front of the camera, dead centre of the shot, in a pile of litter? As you say, not very flattering. Anything to get the message across without actually going to commercial.
