Looking forward to this. I didn't see it in the theaters, but it seems to have gotten surprisingly good reviews.

Great news. I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I thought I would. I will more than likely buy it.

Best Rocky since the original. Worth buying just to hear Gonna Fly Now in PCM.

This is surprisingly good. I've NEVER seen a Rocky film before until this one.

Apart from the strong writing and acting, the directing is also wonderful. Great looking cinematography that was both shot on film and using HD cameras for the fight sequence. Finally, the under-rated element of any boxing movie is the sound mixing and design.

Stallone, Stallone and Stallone.

He created a beautful bookend, adding the directorial credit to his fame. A very odd character is Sylvester Stallone. He is clearly capable of so much more than he's allowed himself to do.

He wrote the screenplay for First Blood and Cliffhanger. He's an amazing writer. A Sam Shepard that hasn't gotten a lot of respect.

Yes. Hence my "bookend" comment. The first Rocky was writing + acting.

Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra (2008)

The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid deliver to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers.
Hmmm. Director and writer on that too.

Lionsgate as the domestic distributor.

Just as an aside, I believe I read on the forums at high def digest that rocky balboa will be released on BD50, hopefully that will mean all the bells and whistles with some decent extras thrown in.

Rocky Balboa was a great movie. I've always liked the Rocky movies and I kind of thought the latest might be a dud, but it was a pleasant surprise. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't just release a box set of ALL the Rocky flicks on Blu-ray, that would've been sweet.

I've heard nothing but positive things about this movie (both here and elsewhere). Glad it's a BD exclusive. I'll have to check this one out.

I dont know if anyone notice lately that AVC-MPEG4 titles released lately from Sony and Buena vista are looking great and have Gorgeous PQ and this is again in the face of HD-DVD which has a Lower VC-1 codec

NOW ITS from CHAD on Hometheaterspot Flawless victory for Blu-ray Discs fans around the world
Unbeatable i challenge HD_DVD if can get maximise their bit rate to 40mbs
Now from CHAD:
...."Here's another title that only opens itself to criticism of the photography itself. Peaking above 40mbs and rarely dropping below 20, the high bitrate AVC encode looks positively flawless. Anyone disappointed in this presentation need look into updating their equipment chain or working on calibration, as high definition simply doesn't get much better" a quote from our beloved CHAD
