Default The Orphanage

My girlfriend and I love stupid horror movies so we decided to rent this Saturday night we put it in and noticed it was in Spanish we were pissed it was late and we both didn't feel like reading so we just said let's give it a chance and thank god we did I haven't had a movie give me the chills that this gave me in a long time. This has to be one of the better movies I have seen this year. Man I was freaking out I can't even imagine how scared my girlfriend was. Go buy/rent this movie awesome horror

My name is Iñigo Montoya. You were pissed at Spanish. Prepare to be scared.

I bought this on the blu but havent watched it yet. I am sure it will be great because del Toro is an amazing director.

That would be relevant had del Toro directed it....

This is a great movie. The fact that it is in Spanish shouldn't bother anyone. I think I like foreign films more than American ones on average now.

I agree...it's an EXCELLENT show. I watched it one night while my wife was out of town on business. I laugh about it now, but I looked behind my couch and down the hall a few times for Tomas. (It scared the crap out of me!) I believe it has a 7.1 soundtrack too, which is cool.
I think I remember hearing that this was the director's first movie (forgot his name) and del Toro produced it. ...I apologize in advance if my facts are off. Anyway... I highly recommend it!

this movie is fantastic. I didn't check behind the couch or anything after watching it but I did get a couple of chills from it.

While I liked it, I didn't think it was scary at all, which kind of disappointed me since everyone was saying how scary it was.

I'll watch an original language film with subtitles anytime but you couldn't PAY me to watch the dubbed version. Here's why!...

1) Women always dub childrens voices
2) Voice inflections do NOT carry over to dubbing
3) Mouths don't match the words and if they do it's because they've compromised on the script

People who can't stand subtitles usually just don't read that quickly and the time spent reading, removes important time they want to spend watching the action on screen - which is totally valid but those able to read at a faster speed, actually prefer subtitles I find.

The Orphanage is simply a great film. I look forward to the release of similar stories such as "The Changeling," "Ghost Story" "Below," and "The Others." These films didn't rely on graphic scenes of torture porn. They were creepy and spine-tingling without being exploitive.

I get a kick out of friends of mine that say they hate subtitles. Once I show them Pan's Labrynth or The Orphanage they are sold. Some of the best movies out there are foreign films. The money tends to get put into the movie/story instead of the actors over inflated paycheck.

For anyone who hasn't seen it check out "Devil's Backbone". Awesome ghost story by del Toro.

Ditto on the Changeling. Films like this one and the Changeling have a certain charm to them for me. I don't like the direction horror films have been taking the past few years, so this was a nice break from all the torture porn.

Excellent movie, excellent disc. More of a drama than a horror film, but my wife and I both ate it right up. Spain and France are the hotbeds of great horror right now.
