Hello all,
This is my very first post, sorry if I seem like a newb. I have an HP DV9924CA laptop connected to a brand new Panasonic TH42PZ80 Plasma TV via an 10" HDMI 1.3 cable. I am using HP Quickplay 3.7 to play Blu Ray movies and I can only play them at 720p resolution even though the TV is 1080p and is able to display the desktop at 1080p. When I try to play the movies the software gives me an error message "The VGA resource is unavailable". Could it be that the max resolution my monitor can go is 1440x990? Could it be the HDMI cable or the software? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

It could be a software issue but to me it sounds like a hardware thing. Either something isn't set up right, or your graphics card is not capable of displaying 1080p. You should chech with the computer maker and see if hey have any solutions. Good luck.

Thanks for replying.
The video card is not able to output 1080p on the laptop display but it can output 1080p to the TV (I verified via the NVIDIA Control Panel). I tried disabling the laptop display completely and only use the TV and still I get the same error. I have also contacted HP regarding this and they have sent me a software update that I will try tonight. Other than that they haven't really been able to offer me any other solutions than the ones I've already tried. Any more ideas? |

Make sure you're making it show only on your TV, and not also on your laptop's display.

No I don't have a 360 remote, but that's kind of cool.
Yeah, it's an update for Quickplay sent to me by HP. |

Hey all,
I set the TV as the primary display and disabled the laptop display and I still get the same message. If it helps the resolution is set to 1920x1080 on the TV by default and I can change the resolution in the NVIDIA Control Panel, but it is set to 1080p. |

I'm not entirely sure, I believe it has detected it as "Panasonic TV". I will verify tonight and let you guys know.
