Sounds a bit odd. Did XM ask you to reconfirm your credit card number?

It's actually true. You're Sat Radio radio is calibrated (by you) to send it's signal to an FM frequency. You';ll notice when you use the FM feed in the car, you'll occasionally get static as you drive past some people. These are folks who are tuned to a frequency close to what your Sat Radio is sending to.

I had my XM put into an input on the back of the radio, so I didn't need to use the FM feature.

Then, I canceled.

I have a direct connection with my Sirius radio.... but take it out (stilletto) when we take the wife's car for long trips etc.... and use the FM transmitter. I don't know why they said it was "interfering" with others because they have to had known this was an issue from the beginning..... nothing new, and "yeah" too bad for them if they're listening to FM radio....

XM violated FCC rules with the amount of power thier FM modulator used. This e-mail is something the FCC told XM they had to do as part of the fine. You don't have to do anything if you don't want.

It is pretty much all FM modulators from the start through the last held hand portable units.

What was happening is that the range of stations allowed to be used by the units to broadcast the signal via FM was also in the range of the PBS and college radio stations. Some old fuddies or some more liberal than average folks were listening to their PBS stations in the car when some trucker rolls by listening to some off-color talk radio (like Opie and Anthony) and the FM modulator actually overtook the signal and the folks not wishing to hear the sat signals were getting it.

Since some of these folks have nothing better to do than complain about their feeling being hurt, they called and complained to the FCC about the vulgarities...an investigation ensued, the radio stations were found not to be at fault and someone put 2+2 together and realized something was more powerful than it was supposed to be.

This is strictly optional and might affect your reception if your antenna is far removed from your sat radio location if you apply the fix.

I say screw it...let those fuddies listen to the way the real world works...
