Default blu-ray system specs

Im sure this has been asked before, however i did a search a few times and nothing was coming up. So what the heck, may as well post it!

Anyone have the required system specs to play a blu-ray movie through an external blu-ray drive?
Or, if you are a pure genius and would like me to love you - Do you know if i can go buy an external blu-ray drive for this computer which i just ordered today?

Mac OS X version <insert that new version here>
24" Monitor
3.06 GHz processor
4GB RAM
1TB HDD

Thanks guys!

Easy answer...

Mac OSX version: none currently released
Specs: doesn't matter

Under Windows XP or Vista there's specs that vary somewhat among the available playback programs that could be posted. Under OS X, since there's currently no playback software, it doesn't matter how powerful the system is. Of course, if the latest rumor turns out to be correct, then 10.5.6 will have playback capability, but since that's nothing but a rumor still, no one knows what the actual playback requirements will be if it turns out to be true.

Anyway, if the update allowing Blu-ray playback does come out next month, then I would say you new iMac will be fine. It certainly has the required hardware to play Blu-ray movies fine under Windows, so I doubt there's be any major hurdles under OS X.

Haha. Now thats what i wanted to hear.

I can easily put windows on my mac. Whether that be through actually buying windows (or... well, you know), or just running Bootcamp. I know absolutely nothing about bootcamp though.
Ah well, Im sure it'll come at some point in time. I find it hard to beleive that theres no way of getting it to work though. The software for windows can probably be converted over to OSX or something... no?
Hmmm... Whatever. I wont be buying a blu-ray drive for a few more months, so im sure i'll be alright. I just wanted to make shure i had decent enough hardware.
Thanks Jaded.

i thought the video card played a heavy role in the system requirements too?
