Default Vin Diesel Promises Two More Chronicles of Riddick Movies

Personally I really enjoyed the two Riddick movies (I think there was an animated episode that I never saw). Vin Diesel talked to MTV.com about what was going on with the character:

Quote:
“David Twowy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind,” he said of Riddick, the Furyan warrior first introduced in the 2000 film “Pitch Black.” “‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ was presented as a three part trilogy that would answer ‘Pitch Black’ in the same way that ‘Lord of the Rings’ answered ‘The Hobbit.’”

Those are lofty goals indeed for a movie that was very poorly received when it opened in 2004, and had a mediocre performance at the domestic box-office (where it made just $57 million). Diesel, though, is undaunted, insisting that the long space between sequels has nothing to do with convincing others to get on board, and everything to do with wanting to get it right. (To be fair, “Riddick” performed well overseas, and also spawned a best-selling video game which many considered to be better than the movie.)

“Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I’m always working on it,” Diesel asserted. “It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precious about it.”

So where will Riddick go next? After taking the throne of the Necromonger King at the end of the last chapter, is there any doubt?

“Sooner or later we all end up in the Underverse,” he said of where we can expect the next chapter to take place, adding in a Riddick-like voice, “Sooner or later.”

I hope it doesn't take five years. None of us are getting any younger. But I do love the Riddick movies. Pitch Black is still one of my favorites.

I'm in for both movies whenever they arrive to bd. More Riddick, can't be a bad thing. Pitch Black was the better of the two but the sets in the second one were superb, bigger budget.

Pitch Black was awesome, but The Chronicles of Riddick was a BIG disappointment for me. Hopefully, we will see a worthy effort in the third installement.

I have to say I love the Riddick character and while the second was not as cool as the first one I am a sucker for Sci-fi movies so sign me up for two more.

About time they brought some news about this franchise. I thought Riddick was pretty sweet and had a solid mythology that was different from other sci-fi action movies.

So in this movie riddick will be the king and take over from where the last movie left off probably.

I was thinking about that babylon movie but alot of people here have said it sucked so i will rent it later.

Awesome, I am all for this after the huge cliffhanger in Chronicles. Also Riddick is just a great character!

That would be so great. I loved the first two. I thought the second one was just as good as the first. We need more Riddick, and we need him on Blu.

Pitch Black is great, Riddick was good enough to be fun... I assume the rest will be the silly fun also

(My dog is named Riddick From Pitch Black, because the Riddick in "TCOR" was not as cool.)

I like the quote "adding in a riddick voice" thats his voice in every movie. Geeze. He plays Riddick in every movie he is in.

Loved Chronicles of Riddick, but someone mentioned him playing kratos, I would really like to see that he has the attitude for that and is simular to kratos's body too.

I'd love to see more CoR movies. I really enjoy both PB and CoR and I can't wait to pick them up on BD. They better bring Alexa Davalos back though.

I'm down for more Riddick movies, too. I didn't care for the second one when I saw it in the theater, but I thought the director's cut dvd did the story a lot of justice. I've grown to like that one a lot and still pop it in once in a while.

I'm hoping he meant 5 years from the last movie. Bring on the Riddick now

I just found out that Chronicles of Riddick was actually a sequel. Heck, I just found out about Pitch Black. No wonder the story wasn't clear...

If anyone other than Vin Deisel was saying those lines of dialogue, it would be ridiculous. If Riddick was saying anything else, it would be boring. But somehow Vin Deisel's sheer attitude transcends bad dialogue and actually makes it believable. Vin Deisel owns that character, and Riddick is so bad-ass that he can actually get away with saying ridiculous things because you actually begin to believe he can follow through. I hate most pathetic anti-heroes, who are usually just wannabes. But I love Riddick, because he really IS.

Well you really don't need to see Pitch Black to get Riddick. The only real connection these two movies have is the character of Riddick.

I'm hoping for some more Riddick games though. Butcher Bay was pretty sweet, one of the rare occasions when people tended to like the game more than the movie.
