Default Amazon.com Prime subscription.

Well I hope this is the right place to post this.

I logged onto my amazon.com account today, and it had a box that says I qualify for the one month free trial to Prime.

Now I know what Prime is and who is eligible, and I am in Canada and do not qualify, but for s*its and Giggles I decided to do the trial subscription to see when it would tell me that I do not qualify....

Huh? It let me go through one page, 2 pages 3 pages and let me submit the offer. Well I was smart enough to choose initially a credit card that is not valid but still on my account, because it said failed authorization.

In "My Account" it even stated that my address did not qualify for the offer and that I would need to change my address to take advantage of free shipping. Not that I couldn't subscribe!

I deleted all my cards on file and wrote them an email that basically said that they should not have qualified me and should never have accepted the submission if I was not in a region that qualifies. That this must be a blatent attemt for aquiring $ from people who are just too lazy to fight for the charge on their cards 30 days down the road.

Does anyone else see a real problem with this strategy? or am I alone in seeing this as a scam. After all, any junior programmer can qualify an application like that...Country = USA - positive - continue... otherwise - send rejection notice.

I now need to delete the account and seriously consider if I want to do business with a company that would pull something like thiis.

Flame away.

Regards,
Paul
