Default bedroom tv

hi all...new member here...i've been searching all the threads but can't seem to find the right answer for this....i am looking to get an HDTV for the bedroom...viewing distance is about 12 or 13 feet...and the biggest size i can prolly fit is around a 37".....my gf will be watching more regular tv and movies...while i will be watching more sports (hockey and football)....i am looking to spend around $1000....i am kind of leaning towards a sony lcd, or a panasonic plasma....thanks for any replies to this....GOOOOO BUFFFFALO

i could be wrong but i dont believe they make plasmas in sizes smaller than 40 inches. i would probably go with a sony lcd...i have a 32 inch in my dorm and i love it. samsung is pretty good too. as for whether or not to go 720p or 1080p...i would go to a store near you and check out several models and see which one works best for you. at that size you could go with either

sitting that far away your not going to notice the PQ difference between 1080P and 720P on that small of a tv, go view these three models, you should be happy(all are 1080P BTW):

Sony 37" XBR6 $1299
Samsung 37" A550 $1099
Panasonic 37" TC-37LZ85 $1199

Panasonic does make a nice LCD, so does Sharp. Good luck

Here is the only 32 inch plasma I know of. $499
http://www.jr.com/soyo/pe/SOY_SYJCP32B1AB/
I've seen this one in the JR store and it looks good, black as black. it has a weird Resolution though I couldn't see a problem with the blu-ray movie they had on. and yes the blu-ray player was outputting in 1080P.

Amazon has a great deal on a 32" samsung LCD right now. $600 with free shipping, pretty hard to pass up!

Toshiba 1080p 37":

Toshiba also has a new 720p 37" lcd coming this month. 37AV502U:

I have a 32" in my bedroom and I lay/sit about the same distance as you, and I think 32" is a tad too small for me. (obviously may be different for you) but I would get the 37"...although finding plasma at that size is quite difficult. I think you would be completely happy with an LCD at that size. Any sony or samsung would be of better quality.

Measure your space though, if you could fit 42" id definitely go for the Panasonic Viera.

you s/b able to find some more interesting things to do in the bedroom than watch tv.

just kidding, i've got this tv and it looks awesome, they earlier quote of not noticing a difference on a tv this size is pretty accurate.

happy shopping.

Samsung 32" LCD
my gf has this set. it's good for a 32", especially at this price point.

i have a 32" samsung (ln-t3253h) for my bedroom. however, my viewing distance is about 8'. in your case, i would try to squeeze in a 42", if possible.

my main set is a samsung 52" (ln52a550) for my living room with about a 10' viewing distance which i think is ideal.

32' is way to small. Toshiba has a 42' 1080p lcd for $999 and it is a nice tv and has free shipping.

I would recommend a 42inch plasma. I have a 42 Vizio in my bedroom and it is perfect.

I've been meaning to buy a new TV for my bedroom as well, so instead of making a new thread I'll use this one. I sit about 5-6 ft. away from the TV. I've been looking at getting a 32 inch one but was wondering if the difference between 720p/1080p would make a big difference at my viewing distance. Some model recommendations would also be appreciated. Thanks for the help!

I have a 73" HDTV no less than 5 ft from my bed. Some say it might be too big but hey I enjoy watching movies and playing games while lying down and this way is the most convenient for me.

Oh yeah dude! My girlfriend and I just lay on our bed with our heads propped up on pillows, it feels like we're in the movie. The bad thing is I may go blind sooner or later...jk! lolz Actually the only negative about having a big TV so close is that your eyes actually have to move around a little bit to see everything on the screen...ESPECIALLY reading subtitles! It gets TIRESOME like reading a billboard. If I had a bigger apartment I would move it to a living room but for now I have to put it in my bed room.
