Yes, many many investors we made rich in that move. This is horrible because I was so happy with oil and gas prices finally starting to come down.

Exactly. Like these buy-outs that WE are paying for to make THEM rich. They want us to "not care."

Over inflated itll come back down. They quote the front month crude futures for the oil price. usual volume is a little over 300,000, today was slightly more then 30,000. Real short term it may go up but it wont last. not enough demand.

Did you know that you can get infinite mileage by not driving your car and using an alternative form of transportation such as a bicycle? It's true!

the majority of people do not live within a safe biking distance of their work.

i used to work down the street from my house and i would rarely take a car there (only when i was late), but now i work 12 min. away from my house.

and while that doesn't seem like much, it would be at least a 30 min. bike ride each way. And I wouldn't even mind taking an extra 40 min. out of my day to save on gas and help the environment, but I need to look professional so god forbid it rains or my clothes get dirty or I sweat. In the winter Id freeze, plus it would take longer in the snow, plus its just not as safe as being in a vehicle going 30-40 mph.

biking is just not practical for a lot of people, we need better mass transit systems in many cities.

yeah that's true also, the whole working out part, i don't want to get to work drenched in sweat and then have to go through the day smelling.

Sucks to live in Charlotte right now, we have no gas. If you can find a station with gas you have to wait in a huge line. I never thought I would live to see the day

That's the problem with america. NYC has it on lock-down. Everywhere NEEDS to take a page from their book. Even LA is a joke when it comes to Public Transportation.

I think it's a simple case of necessity with NYC. It would be hopeless without it. Tokyo and London are other examples.

Most everywhere else, public transit is looked at as the service governments are forced to provide for the poor slobs who can't afford to purchase or run a car.

They wouldn't want to make it too good. After all, they don't say "What's good for public transit, is good for America".

I've heard San Francisco is awesome as far as public transport goes. LA is only bad in certain areas. In the city you can get where you want from Downtown to the beach by public transport it's just most people don't do it. Plus LA is spread out so thinly that the rides are long. I used to commute from West Covina to LAX and that was 1 1/2 hours one way. My wife commutes to Downtown and that's about an hour. Coworkers commute all the way from Corona and Riverside. The transport is there if you want to use it.

1/2 an hour bike ride?

I'm sure your boss would understand that you were biking to work, I live in Toronto and there are tons of people in business suits biking to work.

You could always change at work, I've known lots of people who have done that before. Just an option, but I hear you on the cold and rain. Safety's key too, some areas are more bicycle friendly than others and risking your life to ride on road with careless motorists unaccustomed to seeing bikes on the road isn't worth saving $5-10 a week in gas. Especially when half the idiots driving are busy yapping on their cell phones.

Personally I don't care, it's your money and if you wanted to drive a 3MPG Bulldozer to work I wouldn't have an issue at all (so long as you maintained the speed limit). You're buying your own gas, not me. When someone else is going to be paying for all my gas, then they have the right to tell me what I should/shouldn't/can/can't drive. Until then, they can ram it up their tailpipe and rev the engine until they choke on the exhaust fumes.
