400 Blows (Truffaut) - does it have English subs? - Blu-ray Forum

I've noticed that Truffaut's classic film 'Les Quatre Cent Coups' ('The 400 Blows') has been released on BD in France (and it's apparently region-free). Can anyone tell me whether it has optional English subtitles?

No.
I think it's going to be one of Criterion's earlier releases though.

Do you mean no you can't tell me or no it hasn't got English subs?

I can't tell you with absolute certainty that it doesn't have English subtitles, but I can make a very strong assumption that it doesn't. The French can be very "protectionist" about their movie releases; as far as they're concerned if it's released in France, why would it need non-French subtitles?!?!

I think the french release had early reports of having no english subs.

I'm guessing if Criterion releases their discs in order of announcement, 400 blows will be released by december.

More likely early next year. The first five are coming in November, but nothing was announced for December.

The French disc by MK2 DOES NOT offer English subs. The audio/video treatment isn't impressive either.

I have the Blu Ray. The quality is not so bad in my opinion given the age of the film - certainly an improvement about any DVD version - but what annoys me is the lack of extras...
