Default Damn Canadian dollar

Well it's falling pretty fast... down to 84+ cents at the moment compared to the USD.

This is going to make BDs and BD Players more expensive for Canadians

Before buying from amazon dot com was a steal/deal... not anymore!!!

This is quite selfish of me.... but hopefully it'll stay down through December for my trip to Montreal. ;o)

The Canadians have enjoyed a very strong loonie when compared to the US Dollar for the past year.

It's actually better for our economy for the dollar to be in the 75-80 cent range. Since the majority of our exports are to the US, having slightly cheaper manufacturing costs keeps jobs and business flowing. Quite a few of the recent manufacturing plant closures in Ontario, as well as less movie production in Canada as a whole, has been because of the stronger dollar.

Yeah. I'm already looking to shift purchases to Amazon.ca. Some are now becoming better deals there.

The dollar drop is great for exporters. The manufacturing sector was getting creamed by the high dollar.

But, there is a total lack of respect out there for Canada. I think people are yanking their money out of our markets because they don't know us, and therefore we're scary. That causes a lot of Canadian dollars to be sold.

Even Canadians have no respect, because they get all their news from US sources. They are clueless about their own country.

Which debate do you suppose the average Canadian watched? The Canadian one among the five party leaders or the Biden v. Palin one? (They were on at the same time, BTW)

Let's review:

Strongest banking system in the world. Check
Feds running a surplus and paying down debt. Check
An all-time record 107,000 jobs created in September. Check

So, naturally people are scared.

Yeah, it's quite unfair, I agree. To be honest with you, however, I knew very little about Canada until I met my wife (she's Canadian). It seems as though most studies in the US in grade school focus on US History, and less on World. So sad.

I've been trying to convince my wife to move us up there, but I think she doesn't want to leave her parents. BOOOO!!!

BTW, it's currently 1 USD = 1.16 CAD
