Arrow Nielsen VideoScan for week ended March 11

Nielsen VideoScan for week ended March 11:
SI, Blu-ray:HD-DVD
100:89.25

YTD, Blu-ray:HD-DVD
100:47.37

This gives us an estimated weekly sales ratio of 100:23 and a significant drop in number of sold discs per week on both formats but especially for HD-DVD.

These numbers are the first numbers that include the week of the Amazon 50%-off sale. They do not include any sales of Casino Royale which was released March 13.

It looks like no released titles really meant no disc sales or Nielsen VideoScan does not get the Amazon sales numbers from Amazon. I have seen one source (pcmag.com) that claim that Walmarts sales numbers are not included. Walmart didn't think it gave them any advantages to provide sales numbers to Nielsen VideoScan. Is it the same for Amazon?

Hey once it is going to include the Blu-ray disc sold from march 12 not including only amazon but DVDempire and every place where you bought a single BD and with the launch of PS3 around the world .BD sold will be unbeatable by our fellows HD-DVD.Look at Departed once included the PCM soundtrack what did 20.000 discs sold against 13,000 for HD-DVD and Warner Bros are telling us to BUY THD .........and this is not final BD is OVER HDDVD and still not final.Warner you are going to loose a lot of profit if you release THD.

Release Batman Begins with PCM and see by urself how BD is going to dominant all or at least titles you promised us to catch up later we are waiting for you

Check out the HD DVD ad on page 4+5.

HD DVD has now grown from 300 titles at the end of 2006 to 240 titles now!

Still advertising 'up to 7.1 channels of audio' - I wonder if they will ever release a title that has more than 5.1?

On the happy side, breaking into the '80s from the '90s for SI numbers is great - especially with no Casino sales included. I expect that CR will move that number significantly by itself.

They can't decode it for TrueHD. How about DD+?

They have to be able to decode it from somewhere right? otherwise it is false advertising?

At this rate of shrinkage, the number of HD DVD titles will be down to about 60 by the end of 2007. This is great news for HD DVD!!!

That's still false advertising. It's only about 180+ now in the US. They can't say we have 240 titles but you have to import 60 of them from other countries.

The ad is also on Widescreen Review etc.

If it wasn't for lies and false advertising HD DVD would have died months ago.

True.

Hey, only 360 titles to go until they hit 600. Only 40 titles a month.

It's another example of how every number stated by the BDA is considered a lie, and every number from HD DVD PRG is gospel. This is religion/politics not an A/V format war.

IMO, the significant drop in BD titles sold and the fact that these numbers don't include the Amazon half off BD sales date isn't a bad thing.

It just means that the primary BD consumers at the moment can't pass up a good deal when they see one.

The numbers for HD-DVD are basically world wide sales due to the unavailability of the media in most other parts of the world. Blu-ray although limited does have it's own supply which makes the HD-DVD figures even worse.

Personally I love this one best, by our favourite AVSF member MidnightWatcher:

That's shows a stagnant 2:1 advantage for two months. If you recall Fox was predicting 3.5:1 at the end of March. But, Fox would be mostly to blame if that doesn't happen. They've postponed a number of anticipated titles (sometimes more than once).

I have seen many people over on AVS confirm that Walmart is not included in those numbers (HD-DVDers of course assume that means the numbers are worthless since, clearly 90% of the HD-DVDs must be bought from Walmart ) and that Amazon numbers are included.
