The combined forces of the PS3 and added content are doing the job really well for Blu-ray.
HD-DUD is indeed staying at the bottom (until it becomes extinct). |

I think the article means rebates and not gift certificates. While they did help I feel that the bump in BD supremacy is more due to the release of the PS3 and superior content due to greater studio support.

It is really not great news for HD DVD people. Look at picture of graph that show who is lead in this format war, this is very good news for Blu-ray because they are ahead of HD DVD on the graph. This is a honest statement. |

I think Midnight Watcher on AVS would have dissected this as good news for HD-DVD. You know, HD-DVD is winning by losing!

Plus it will only get worse for HD-DVD when the PS3 launches in europe.

The really interesting thing there are the numbers that show that even with a big title like The Departed, available on both formats, the Blu-ray version apparently outsold the HD DVD by a wide margin. This puts to rest all claims that the sales gap is only present because of the lack of titles being released by the HD DVD studios (i.e. Universal). In a head to head, only Mission Impossible, apparently, was able to ever so slightly edge out its Blu-ray counterpart.
