Cool PLAYSTATION 3 160gb

I am thinking of finally buying a Play Station 3. Can any one tell me if they have upgraded the forthcoming 160 GB. I mean new hardware and software, since this should be their 4 generation player I would certainley hope they have made some improvements.

Hardware is basically the same except for the increased space.

Improvements in software are done over firmware updates, and the system has definitely grown in leaps and bounds since it's release. This makes new features available to ALL models instead of with each hardware release.

yea, personally I don't care for the space. I barely play games anymore. Also, I only have a few things saved on it, like mp3s, pictures. other people go nuts (lol) saving videos, etc etc.. but not me.. so it's just space like cathexist mention.

I could really go for some more space...Rock Band is taking up a bunch, and if I start purchasing things on the video store, my space will be gone in no time (I was down to 1.5gig the other day)

If you are going to be using your PS3 as a Media Center, then I definately recommend a 320GB hard drive for it.

I've been thinking of upgrading my 60 gig model with a new hard drive for any games for to download or any to install. And like the others said Mr. Finger, the 160 gig has the same hardware, except for the bigger hard drive.

Try eBay. I think they have them for around $150-200 for one.

Theve made tweeks to the cooling system, tweeks to the size of the processor etc, which let it run cooler and more efficiently.

All improvements to the hypervisor are done with firmware updates, which make improvements to the system, internal software, codecs, features, etc.

and this is just plain silly..unless you haven't been following the firmware updates for the PS3...this machine is easily 5 times what it was from release..and, every PS3's pretty much equal..besides backwards compatibility...but, since you are jumping in so late, it is a non-issue for you.

Good luck!

I don't trust eBay for a hard drive, unless the seller warrants it not DOA. Even if it's not used, it may have been dropped/mishandled. A reputable seller is always my preference when dealing with components which have many moving parts.

Well then I guess I'm a bad finder of cheap goods. Thats only 80 bucks. And your right, I'd find eBay hard to trust.

Hey Steelmaker, I just found your hard drive.

I'm going to look for a good deal on a terabyte hard drive. I figure if I'm going to spend the money, might as well get something that will give me an enormous amount of space.

just save the cash and buy a 40gb. Then before you do anything to it swap the drive out for a 320gb or even 500gb if you need the space. The 40 and 160 have the SAME features. No BC, no difference except price.
