Default Blu Ray Presentation

I am currently working on an independent study and the topic is Blu Ray. I need to have a presentation to give to a group of about 100 people. I am wondering what you all from here think I should include. I am planning on going into the advantages of the format, differences from dvd, and all that jazz. Also planning on looking Blu Rays impact on the home entertainment market. I would like to show some screen shot comparisons from VHS->DVD->Blu Ray of the same film and preferably the same screen shot. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to go about that? I see screen shots on here daily but never comparisons so I was wondering if anyone had any (hopefully). Any suggestions, comments, or ideas are MORE than welcomed. Let me know what you all think. Thanks.

Oh, I just can't turn my back on a topic like this. I am such a sucker.

Jbute, you seem to starting in the right direction. But it would be very important to note a little more History. How BetaMax was first, but was over taken by VHS though it was considered of somewhat lesser quality.

Videodisc is nothing new as it existed in labs before LaserDisc and VideoDisc even entered the market. One such recorder was able to record and play back on a paper disc! But it only held about 10 minutes of B&W content. That dates back to at least the early 1970's.

Laser Disc was a great improvement over tape because the quality was better, and had at least some of the benefits of modern DVD. Such as no rewinding. While it did thrive for about 20 years it never had the following of VHS. Laser Disc's had to be flipped over in the middle of a movie to finish it.

People were not fond of the cost, the cassette case concept, the flipping, nor lack of recording ability. Back in the late 70's and into the 80's recording was "the killer app" which led more people to adopt tape type systems.

It wasn't until DVD improved upon the recording density of CD that video began to appear on the disc size we all know and love today. Even that great improvement does not hold a great deal of video were it not for the compression algorythms use to fit the video onto the disc. These coders/decoders are known as codecs for short.

Even though HD DVD and blu-ray increased capacity even futher to fit HD video and sound, it still would not be possible without compression codecs. I first heard of HD TV in 1985 and it was almost 15 years since that time before HDTV's hit the market. We simply did not have the computing power nor the modern day compression codecs so the FCC would allow transmisson of HD content.

Ok, now work with that.

Xylon has been known to do the best screen shot comparisons between different formats like Blu-ray and dvd. Look at this thread for some ideas:

Good luck on your presentation.
