Maybe the blu-ray guy's can help me figure this out. I have a Sony 550 connected to my Onkyo 806 via HDMI 1.3a monoprice cable on a 5.1 system. The movies I've played so far are fantastic 4, golden compass, pan's labyrinth, and iron man. All of these movies if I can remember are DTS HD MA. My Onkyo 806 always reads PCM Multichannel on the display when the movie is playing. I thought it would display DTS HD MA, True HD or whatever type audio for the BD. If I push the display button on the 550 it say's DTS HD Master Audio 3/2.1 but the 806 reas PCM Multichannel. Is that what it's supposed to display? Both Sony and 1 guy at Onkyo are telling me yes. Another guy at Onkyo said No....defective board and take it back.
![]() Can anyone help me? I have 7 day's before my 30 return period is up. |

Might say "Last Valid" or something to that effect... also, when its playing as Multichannel PCM, do all the speakers light up on the receiver display? |

something is forcing the BD player to output a PCM signal...problem is finding what might cause this.
Worse case scenario is a defective player/receiver. (but lets hope not) do you have any extra hdmi cables laying around...maybe try switching them around/out? |

This is hard to figure out and nobody else seems to have this problem or nobody else has paired a 550 with a 806 |
