Default Cheap-ish 1080i or 1080p projector

Hey guys,

Im thinking about getting a projector in the next couple of weeks or so. I was wondering if you could help me find a good and cheap-ish (~$1500 no more than say $2000) 720p/1080i or 1080p projector. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
CJS234

How big of a screen do you plan to project?

And for what purpose? TV? Bluray? PC?

depending on application of course....... but I'd look into the discontinued Mitsubishi HC-1500

Check for them being sold on Ebay etc.... Best-Buy blew these out for $600 each, and they're a pretty solid projector (I have one, but don't have much experience with other projectors, so I can only go on reviews)

Many people bought them up, and they're trying to sell them for $700 or $800 which is still a good deal!

Keep your eye out for used JVC RS-1's, which I suspect will be hitting the market en masse, once the new JVC's hit the market and people start upgrading. $1000-1500 for one in good shape with a lightly used lamp would be a pretty good deal. Many folks on AVS are planning on this upgrade, so keep an eye on their classifieds. eBay, of course, would be another place to look.

*bump* increased price I am willing to pay. Now looking more into a 720p 1080i projector, but I have a question. Does this projector seem to be good for 1080p for the price?:

I am seriously considering getting the Mitsubishi HC1600. It will be my first projector so I want to start with 720p/1080i and then in a couple of years hopefully upgrade when 1080p projectors are a little cheaper. I am only 19 years old. I figure i can live with this O.K. projector for now. What do you guys think?

Yes the MSRP is 1999$, Be aware that the PLV 700 is one inch inferior to the PLV 2000 because it use organic LCD Panel... Doesn't make it a bad projector at all. But discoloration can happen faster than None Organic Panel ...

It's a great intro to 1080p Projector..

Any time I'm spending over $500 I try to get the right thing first. If you get a full 1080p projector now (which is very doable in that price range given a couple of months) then you wont have to worry about replacing it a year or so down the road. That's just my philosophy though, I just cant imagine shelling out over 1k on 720p.

I am looking to get eather the Panasonic PT-AE3000, Espon 6100 or Epson 6500UB (depending on the MSRP) mid next year when prices drop a bit (I also want to read a few reviews that compair the models) & I am trying to educate my self on LCD front projectors in the mean time...

I don't know about life span, but i can tell you than my old Z4 started to show it about 1000 hours on the first bulb.. then stabilized. I had a small, but noticable, green look instead of white, witch wasn't present at the beggining.

Price won't drop, but company will offer bigger Mail In Rebate. It's always the same thing. Sanyo is keen to offert free bulb too.. witch is great!. I got my Z2000 with 300$ Mail In and a free bulb (withc is about 320$US).. so it's very nice..

you can check www.projectorreviews.com , i personnally prefer his review because he get more technical and add screenshot witch help understand the difference
