Steven Spielberg's "Empire of the Sun" (1987)

I hope that sometime next year, Warner will announce the 1987 WWII epic "Empire of the Sun", from director Steven Spielberg. For anyone who remembers the film quite well, this is the movie that introduced the world to future Batman Christian Bale, who was 13 years old at the time. And what a performance it was from the young Bale!! Like I said, I hope Warner is seriously considering a Blu-ray release of this beloved epic. And it doesn't matter if it's in the form of a digibook, it'll still be a day one purchase in the future!

I am actually shocked Warner hasn't rushed this on to Blu-ray considering the star that Christian Bale has become. In my opinion, "Empire of the Sun" is one of Steven Spielberg's greatest films. It boasts powerful cinematography and performances that sure to generate goosebumps. It is terrific filmmaking.

I saw this in HD on HDnet in 2007 and wanted it on BD right away. Instead, I bought a couple DVD copies and began sharing with friends.

outstanding movie, wonderful score.... I thought it should have been best picture winner. I will certainly add this to my Blu Ray collection when it is released.

I am embarrassed to admit that Empire of the Sun is the only Steven Speilberg movie that I have somehow managed never to see. I have only ever heard great comments and reviews about this movie and also about Christian Bale's extraordinary performance. Hopefully we will get to see this great movie transferred to Blu-Ray sooner than later.

And a digibook blu-ray release sounds very fitting for such an important movie, too.
