So i got the new TV (Sam ln40a550) computer upgrades are on the way (my blu ray drive is in the computer) and now its time for some speakers/reciever. The reciever im gonna go with is the Onkyo 606, but i want to get the polk monitor speakers but i wasnt sure which
Newegg has the following Monitor 50's $110 each Monitor 60's $140 each Monitor 70's $200 each So which of those 3 do you think are the best deal, knowing that my room isnt that big (12x15') and that they are gonna be hooked to the Onkyo 606. The 60's seem to be the best deal? Rears are gonna be the Monitor 40's ($143 from amazon) unless you guys think those are bad Center - Monitor CS2 $130 from amazon Sub - None other then the eD A2-300 ![]() speaking of the A2-300, in this picture http://www.edesignaudio.com/gallery/606_large.jpg which is the matte finish and which is the odye finish, i like the one on the left better total package puts me at about $1100ish (with the 606) which seems decent, i dont really want to go that much higher then that if at all, the room is fairly small, its my bedroom which is approx. 12x15' so that setup should be enough for a room that size eh? I may be wrong, but monitor 50's are the tower version of the monitor 40's. Since you can get the 50's cheaper - and would not have to buy stands... it only makes sense to buy 50's. I love mine... If you're getting the a2-300, I don't see the need for the cs2 over the cs1. cs2 goes 5Hz lower, but with a sub like the a2, I think a cs1 should be just fine for the center (again, been happy with my cs1 and I've yet to even GET a sub)
Doc PS, yes, it'll suit your room size... or even bigger... just fine. ![]() Last edited by doctorsteve; 11-20-2008 at 05:12 AM. |

Monitor 40's for sure for you then. They're good speakers and will more than do the job as surrounds.
I would suggest looking at the ebay stores as well- combine that with live.com's still-running 25% cashback and you can find some real steals. Also, I would check any Circuit Citys in your area as they have the CS2 for under $90 on clearance. You'll be very happy with that setup. I have a much weaker sub than the eD and I feel I have plenty of bass response with the 60's, 40's, and CS2. If you get the 50's, get the CS1. If you get the 60's or 70's, I'd recommend the CS2 since they have the same size drivers. It's a worthwhile upgrade in my opinion. |

In order to qualify, you must: 1. Purchase the item within the next hour. Otherwise you have to do a new search. 2. Do only "Buy it Now" option (possibly with Paypal- not sure on that). 3. Once you do, check your ebay messages. There should be a link to live.com. You'll need to sign up (free) and after a couple days you should see your cashback amount. Then you have to wait 60 days and they refund it back to your paypal. |
