Has anyone out there heard of a release date for 2010:the year we made contact on blu-ray??

It isn't that bad, but no where as good as 2001.

Well I absolutely love 2001. I haven't heard to many good things about this "sequel". So I never bothered to check it out.

2010 is a good movie as well. I would love to have it on Blu to go with 2001.

he never once said it "sucks." he just said he hasn't heard good things so he never watched it. i don't see anything wrong with that.

i've always wanted to see 2010 even though I've heard it wasn't as good as 2001. the storyline(s) are very intriguing.

Well since we'll be making contact in 2010 it might be better to put it out ahead of time - like maybe in 2009.

I found 2010 more watchable than 2001.. I cannot to this day understand the praise that 2001 gets, its just plain booooorrrrrring......

2001 is unquestionably a different type of movie that not everyone will get into. 2001 requires viewers use more of their minds than their eyes, while 2010 is the other way around. from what i've heard 2010 attempts to provide an explanation for everything while 2001 is obviously very ambiguous, but that is kind of the point. in a making of doc for 2001 some of the producers even state that "if you understood everything about this movie we failed in our mission" or something like that. it seems 2010 is a more "hollywood-ized" version of 2001, but i haven't seen it yet so I don't want to make a judgment on it.

For anybody who hasn't seen it, you should at least rent it or something. Excellent movie. Very happy ending too

I liked the book "2010 A Second Odyssey" a lot. To be honest, I am not a big fan of director Peter Hyams' opus, and this movie is largely responsible (among others are "Capricorn One", "Outland", "Timecop", "Relic" and "The End of Days" - never liked any of them), but to assume the film sucks would be a bit too much... Let's say that there is only ONE Kubrick, and the movie is based on a book with an intriguing premise.
