Default Scratched Plasma Screen

Yikes. I know this is super expensive but I have a pretty decent scratch on my Panny 50" plasma, wondering how to find out how much it is to fix (replace).

Any info would help.

Damn you sure it wasn't a lion.
Depending upon where you live, just search for local repair shops and give them a call and see what they say, if thats not good then just try calling Panasonic up and see what they say.

I know this sounds crazy, but have you tried using car wax/compound on it?

Use the cat to buff it out, (be sure and tell the cat, "We're going to do this until this scratch comes out".) Be sure to be looking directly into his eyes when you say this so you can savor the horrified expression - other than that, yeah, I got nothing.

That sucks dude. Sorry to hear about your tv.

I havnt tried anything, yet... It happened all of 2 hours ago..

I'm thinking he just broke the protective covering on it, not actually scratching the glass. Is there a way I can check?

I know car wax is shiny and fills in scratches, but is it perfectly transparent?

This is a worst-case scenario option, but you may be able to make a claim on your home-owner's/renter's insurance if it can't be fixed. Hopefully your deductible is less than a new TV.

Whatever you do, do not try to fix it. We did it on two here are work (Yachts) and made it worse and unwatchable. We ended up buying two new TV's.

I have 2 cats & they do like the nature channel , but even when they paw at the screen/glass it does nothing.... How did the cat do it, or do you just think the cat did it? It would take a lot of pressure to scratch the glass...Unless the TV was flat on the floor with the cat on top, it gets startled & kicks off with its back leg trying to get tracking?????? Thats highly unlikely though

Wow, now that's a feat. Panasonics are known for having a kid proof screen. From what I've read, repairing a cracked screen costs as much as buying a new TV so hopefully they can fix a simple scratch with little or no cost.

I know there is some kind of glass repair stuff I have never found but it is suppose to be an applicant on glass to fill in scratches so that you dont see it anymore I dunno if it is just a tiny scratch or a huge gauge but you might wanna look into something like that.
