Default Planet of the apes UK vs US

Was over in the states last week and saw Planet of the apes boxset, looked a cool looking set, of course couldn't purchase it due to region lock. mine turned up from play.com yesterday and WTF, all we get over here is a normal sized but a little fatter bluray box with a slipcase. why is it that fox can charge the earth for their blus but can treat their UK customers like crap.
Rant over

Oh goodie. Another complaint about Fox that includes a comment about Fox's prices.

There could be a number of reasons why the UK didn't get the Book version of the Planet of the Apes films. Fox UK probably didn't think it would sell well. Regional exclusive packaging isn't really new. Look at all the big sets that get released in Japan. The Alien set, the I, Robot set, etc.

I'm going to buy the individual films, I don't care for the set.

What? So all we get are the films, no book. But I really want that book, there's so little printed 'Apes' stuff, this was gonna be a real treat. Please tell me it ain't so!

So all 5 discs are in a fat little case? Could you please post some pics of your version? Have they even released the individual movies in Europe/UK yet? Cause I havent seen any of them and I dont think ill spend $100 on a blind buy!

It's funny. Considering there was a lot of complaints from those in the US about the packaging.

Well, I've seen the box on Ebay. It looks shoddy, real shoddy. I was soooo looking forward to reading the booklet, but it seems absent from the R2 realease. I've just sold my DVD copies on too. This has p**sed me off big time, this is the first time I've had reason to be p**sed at Fox........I'm gutted.

I'm not angry at fox, although it would be nice to include the book, at least they've released the 5 films on blu-ray with all the same features on disc in Region B, Unlike the day the earth stood still which wasn't released at all.

I haven't seen any evidence to prove me otherwise.

Funnily enough, I saw the UK Planet Of The Apes set in HMV today and thought it looked great. It made me wish the Godfather and Matrix sets could have been released in the same type of case instead of stupidly big sets with a separate case per movie, wasting a ton of shelf space.

I too want to know if the UK "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" and "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" each feature both cuts (theatrical and extended) of the films, selectable to view via the menu like the US discs have?

I'd also like to know if ALL the films in the UK collection have an isolated score AND the original English mono tracks, just like the US discs? Anyone?

I have the UK box and its pretty nice package and its not hard to remove discs and put them back.

There is no difference in picture quality between USA and UK release right?

I love these movies so much, Cornelius and Zira are so likeable and funny characters! Dont think its possible for anyone to dislike them.

Roddy McDowall R.I.P. Such a great actor and nice man he was.

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone can confirm if the on-disc extras are identical to the US box set release extras?

Thanks.
