Default What to buy your Significant Other for Xmas?

How do you pick and know what to buy for your Significant Other short of asking them?

If I bought a Blu Ray ... I couldn't even pretend it was for "her."

Though... I do buy some for the kids... I still want to think of them as mine

i made my wife this:

sorry, can't help but brag, i'm so proud this actually turned out.

i usually have to be told what to give her, otherwise be given a list. i have surprised her in the past a couple of times. caught something she said in Feb/March and got it for her for Xmas.

well my girlfriend is really into owls and coffee.

So I got her some custom made coasters from etsy.com with Owls on them, and I am going to this pottery place and paint her a coffee mug

Wife's a coffee-lover (as am I), got her a Keurig brewing machine, whips up a cup in about 30 seconds (uses pressure to instantly heat the water). I'll have to find her some jewelry as well...

I guess I'll get her that Pearl Necklace she wants. No South Sea pearls yet, I'm not rich. Found some Akoya Pearls for about $250.

She will if/when you propose. I got off cheap with a diamond solitare. About $3k for it in a Tiffany setting.

I got her to watch Blood Diamond and a Discovery channel documentary on diamonds and told her "Look, see what pain and suffering diamonds cause?"

I ended up having to get a certified Canadian diamond.

You can always buy a bunch of baby stuff. A crib or something. Maybe even redo a room in the house for the baby and paint it a neutral color.

Yeah I've pretty much resigned that it's going to be maternity clothes. We have all the main stuff from our 1st.

I'll possibly get her a day at the spa, last time I did that she really appreciated it.

the best way to do this is pay attention. notice what your significant other likes and keep your eyes out. you will find gifts easy then. let's say for example your significant other loves radiohead and you see the 2 disc best of radiohead available which they don't have. then you can get them that. or say your significant other loves pink floyd and you see a pink floyd cd they don't have you can get that. or their favorite shows on dvd. you just have to pay attention and know what your significant others likes and dislikes. knowing your significant other rather well is a key to so many things. including christmas shopping.

That's why I'm getting her the pearls. When we were in Maui she bought tons of freshwater pearls but was drooling all over the Akoya and South Sea pearls. I figure I can afford the Akoya for now.

On a lighter note...Along with the main gift, we usually like to get each other gag gifts that are funny...keeps things light and we always joke around.

This year I'm probably leaning towards the screaming chicken
