Personally, I would think you'd want to get something to get lossless audio if you were going to purchase a new receiver. |

A repeater, in the case of HDMI, just means that the reciever will take multiple HDMI inputs and output them along a single route. Essentially, it will accept in incoming signal and "repeat" it out to another device, like a monitor. The only thing I would suggest before buying it is to find a store with one on display that you can listen to. It's not a bad setup per say, but it's all a matter of convenience vs quality. |

I've tested this at the store with a S350. This unit lacks power to go louder. It maxes at 40 when I found the sound gets comfortably loud at 34. If you have a small space, sure. But remember to place the sub well.
Personally, I could find a better receiver and speaker system for US$600 that will give me lossless audio and a solid and sweet sound. fuad |

Thanks for the clarifications. I guess I missed the part where he mentioned he had a PS3, but I wasn't sure about the HDMI audio.
Anyway, point still stands- if you're going to put that much into a system, why not get something that'll actually decode HD audio so that you're more future-proofed? |
